Christmastime in Arizona

Clark had a lot of fun in Arizona for his first Christmas. Brent, Clark, and I are all glad we made the trip to see family and friends.

Some of the family Clark met for the first time:

Granddad Farnsworth

Great-Aunt Wendy and First Cousin-Once Removed, Ireland Snep

Aunt Crystal, Uncle Thomas, Aunt Olivia, and Uncle John Gardner

Great-Granddad Farnsworth and Cousin, Isaac Woods

Cousin, Caden Trejo

Aunt Mara Gardner

Cousin, Elizabeth Sessions (born 3 days after Clark)

He met a lot of other members of his family during Christmas vacation, but we weren't able to get pictures of everyone. Clark really enjoyed being around the hustle and bustle of family.

Some activities Clark participated in during Christmas vacation:

~His first and second airplane rides.

~Received lots of gifts.

Quilt made by Grandma Low

Homemade shorts from Uncle Thomas

Crotched blanket made by Aunt Savanna Gardner

~Portrayed baby Jesus for the Gardner Family Christmas Eve movie tradition.

~Given a name and a blessing.

~Unwrapped gifts.

~Lots of posing for the camera.

Clark's Blessing

Clark was blessed in my parent's home in Arizona on Sunday, December 21st, 2008.He looked absolutely dashing in the blessing outfit his Grandmother Gardner made.

Clark was blessed by Brent. Brent was assisted by Clark's Granddad Edwin Farnsworth, Great-Granddad Albert Farnsworth, Grandfather Brent Gardner, Uncles: Benjamin Gardner,  Jesse Gardner, Thomas Gardner, Marc Trejo, and Chris Sessions.

Clark was supported by lots of love from his family. All who were in attendance: Grandma Janet Farnsworth, Grandmother Kristine Gardner, Great-Grandma Low; Uncles: John Gardner, Andy Woods; Aunts: Heidi Trejo, Stephanie Woods, Terin Sessions, Brittany Farnsworth, Savannah Farnsworth, Mara Gardner, Savanna  Gardner, Olivia Gardner, Crystal Gardner; Cousins: Kelsie Trejo, Caden Trejo, Carter Trejo, Magdalyn Woods, Isaac Woods, Sadie Sessions, Abigail Sessions, Elizabeth Sessions; Great-Uncle Bruce Gardner, Great-Aunt Becca Gardner; First Cousins-Once Removed: Bruce Edward Gardner, Joseph Gardner, and Becca Gardner.

Brent presented a beautiful blessing. The Spirit was strong, and there was so much love in the room. We are thankful that so many could come support us at such a special occasion.

After the blessing, we served potato soup, chicken and wild rice soup, salad, homemade rolls, and my mother's famous cinnamon rolls.

Brent, Clark, and I are so thankful to my parents for allowing us to bless Clark in their home. We thank them for all of their help. We also thank all those who helped prepare the meal. It was a wonderful occasion.

All Fun and Games

This afternoon I was playing with Clark after feeding him. I was lying on my back while flying him around like an airplane. On one of his "lift offs" he belched and spewed a copious amount of regurgitated milk all over my face, in my eye, and my hair. I gasped and then laughed. I knew something like that was eventually bound to happen, I just always assumed it would be on dad, and not mom!

Four Weeks of Pure Bliss

Clark turned 4 weeks old today. It is amazing how much he has already grown. He has such a sweet demeanor. He is a peaceful and happy baby. Brent and I are extremely in love with our little boy.

Things for Brent and me to remember:
  • Sometimes we call Clark: Handsome, Mr. Man, Fuss Budget, Poopster or Sir Poops-A-Lot.
  • He sleeps like a champ - He started sleeping 5 hours through the night (aka sleeping through the night) at week one.
  • He is the king of hiccups.
  • He loves to play with his dad.
  • He likes to sit near a window and soak in the sunlight.
Happy One Month Anniversary, Clark!
Mom and Dad can't imagine life without you.

It Finally Arrived!

Clark's furniture was finally delivered today. It is absolutely beautiful! Brent and I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect furniture for our son. We found a great company, Natart, that makes heirloom quality furniture. We purchased a crib that converts into a double bed (the same one in the picture above), and a dresser with a hutch (same as the short dresser in the picture below- we just added a hutch to it). The color of the furniture is Teddy Bear Brown (the same color as the furniture in the picture below).

It took 10 weeks from the time we ordered the furniture to the time it was delivered to our home, but the final product was worth the wait. We LOVE it!

Happy Belated Birthday, Clark.
We hope you love your furniture for years to come.

Grandfather and Grandmother Gardner

Clark,

Your Grandfather and Grandmother Gardner came to visit you this past weekend. You are their first living grandchild and they couldn't wait to hold you! They thought you were so precious. You reminded them of their first child, your daddy. Grandmother Gardner gave you a bath twice while she was here. She loved to hold you and look at you.

Your grandparents came bearing gifts. Grandmother made a quilt for you. It has an adorable cowboy print. Grandmother thought the print was appropriate, considering you were born in Texas. They also brought the old teddy bear your daddy use to play with when he was a little boy. Grandmother and Grandfather kept the teddy in your daddy's cedar chest for years until the time came that your daddy had child of his own. It is a sweet symbol of the love your grandparents have for their son, and their new grandson.

Grandfather and Grandmother think you are a special little boy. Mommy and daddy agree.

Love,

Mommy

Thanks Grandma!

Clark,

Grandma Farnsworth went home today.  She flew on a little twin engine airplane to get back to her home and family in Arizona.

Grandma was a great help to mommy and daddy for the first several days of your life. She was an incredible labor coach for mommy as you were being delivered into our arms.

Grandma helped with the cleaning and cooking around the house for the first several days of your life.

Grandma loved holding you and talking to you. She thinks you are a very beautiful and special little boy. Grandma is right.

Hopefully, Grandma will be able to come visit again very soon. We all miss her so much already!

Love,

Mommy

Clark's First Bath

Rub-a dub-dub
There's a boy in the tub

Splashing and laughing with glee

He's scrubbed, and he's rubbed
And he's played in the tub

And now he's as clean as can be!

Clark's first bath was given by Grandma Farnsworth

First Time Parents Syndrome

Brent, my mother, and I took Clark to the pediatrician today because Brent and I were afraid Clark was having trouble breathing. He has been choking or gagging in his sleep and last night he really scared me when I woke up to the sound of his gagging. I jumped out of bed faster than I thought possible, pulled him from his crib and noticed that his lips were purple. Once I sat him up, Clark began breathing almost instantly, and he recovered fine but I was filled with worry.

Doctor Smith listened to our concerns with great sympathy and thoroughly checked over our son. Much to our great relief, she gave Clark an excellent bill of health and stated, "he's a lively, and opinionated boy." My mother responded, "sounds like his parents!"

No More Spice

Now that I am breast feeding, I worry about eating something that won't agree with Clark. My mother gave me a bite of her sandwich today and it was a little spicy. I commented that I hoped it wouldn't be too spicy for Clark.

To which Brent replied, "that's okay, Clark likes his milk with a little kick!"
